Our Philosophy:
At Ladybird Nursery, we believe in providing a rich variety of opportunities and experiences for your child, both within the nursery and beyond. With a holistic approach to early years pedagogy, we focus on developing each child socially, physically, and educationally, placing a strong emphasis on learning through play. Our aim is to cultivate lifelong learners, ensuring each child receives a fair start while nurturing independence, self-confidence, and a positive self-image.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS):
Ladybird Nursery follows the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, which guides your child’s development and prepares them for their future educational journey. The EYFS provides:
1. Seven Areas of Learning and Development:
– These include Communication and Language, Personal, Social and Emotional Development, and Physical Development, forming the prime areas. Additionally, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, and Expressive Arts and Design make up the specific areas.
2. Legal Requirements and Expected Levels of Development:
– As a registered provider, we adhere to the legal requirements outlined in the EYFS. We monitor and assess your child’s progress, ensuring they reach expected levels of development for their age.
3. Characteristics of Effective Learning:
– We place particular emphasis on the Characteristics of Effective Learning, which encourage children to be active participants in their own learning. Through play, exploration, and following their interests, children develop critical skills and knowledge.
Our Approach:
– In Babies/Todd and 2-3’s, we focus on the prime areas of development to establish a strong foundation.
– As children progress to Pre-School, we enhance all seven areas to further develop their skills and knowledge across social and intellectual levels.
– We believe in fostering a love for learning by encouraging children to lead their own learning through play and exploration.
– We actively involve parents in the learning journey through home learning activities, play days, and regular communication.
Together, Let’s Empower Your Child’s Learning Journey!
